The Business Women of Fayette and Coweta (BWFC) are pleased to have Peachtree City Mayor Kim Learnard as the guest speaker for their upcoming meeting on Tuesday, June 24.

Founded by two local businesswomen with a passion for giving back to their community, BWFC has grown into a well-established organization that connects professionals in various industries. Through networking, learning, and serving the community, the organization benefits its members both personally and professionally.

Mayor Learnard will be leading a talk entitled “When ‘Leaning In’ isn’t enough: Forging ahead in careers and community,”  in which she will give her perspective on important family and career decisions that led to her running for public office- and ultimately, to being elected mayor.

Learnard hopes her talk will “highlight the importance of female leadership in our communities and our country.”

Learnard is an electrical engineer who spent many years working in the industries of manufacturing and robotics. Over the course of her career she has installed robotic systems for General Motors, provided technical training for the Georgia Department of Economic Development, and served as Vice President at West Georgia Technical College.

In 2009, she was elected to serve on the Peachtree City City Council. She served two four-year term on the council before being elected as Peachtree City’s 12th Mayor in 2021.

Learnard is passionate about Peachtree City- from running on the multi-use paths, attending concerts at The Fred, and watching the Fourth of July Fireworks show. She is excited to talk to the inspiring businesswomen of Fayette and Coweta County during the meeting.

“The BWFC invited Mayor Kim Learnard to speak on leadership because of her proven track record in business, nonprofit, and government leadership roles, ” said Ellie White-Stevens, President of the BWFC.  “We hope that local women who own, run, and work for businesses and nonprofits will join us to hear her speak and have an opportunity to network with our members.”

The BWFC meeting will be at Maguire’s Irish Pub in Senoia on Tuesday, June 24, and will have a networking hour at 5:00 p.m. followed by the program at 6:00 p.m. To RSVP for this event and additional details, visit the event page on the BWFC website.
