Fayetteville needs a public pool

Dear Editor,

There has been a lot of talk on FB lately as to why we do not have a public pool in Fayetteville. The plans for the new multi-million dollar rec center on Redwine Rd only has plans for a splash pad. Our swim teams have to travel out of town to practice and if you want to swim laps for exercise you have to travel to PTC. Every surrounding area has at least one public pool and Newnan has a fantastic family friendly pool at Lynch Park. As one of the richest towns and counties in Georgia and with all the wonderful tax revenue that Trilith and the Data center were supposed to bring us I feel very certain that this is possible. We are paying a SPLOST tax for the rec center which will mostly have indoor spaces. We deserve better. I am encouraging everyone to email the mayor, the city council, and the county commissioners to demand that plans be made and funds allocated. No excuses.

Thank you,

Ethel Schlegel
