The Flat Creek congregation, one of two congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that meet in Peachtree City, has new leadership. Bishop Jordan Jones of Sharpsburg succeeds Bishop Ben Johnson, who served for five years.

Bishop Jones has primary responsibility for the spiritual and temporal needs of members, in addition to organizing Church services and extending service opportunities within the congregation. Serving with Bishop Jones as counselors are Peachtree City resident Travis Stout and Tyrone resident Carston Feigleson.

Bishop Jones is a devoted husband to his wonderful wife, Amber, with whom he has shared 16 years of marriage. Together, they are the proud parents of five children, ranging in age from 4 to 14. The Jones family has called Sharpsburg home for the past seven years. Before that, they lived in North Carolina, Utah and Wisconsin.

Bishop Jones’s commitment to faith and service is evident in his church involvement. Before being called as Bishop, he served as the first counselor to his predecessor. Bishop Jones also served as a full-time missionary in Italy, where he learned Italian and dedicated himself to teaching people about Jesus Christ and serving others. Professionally, he is a Product Manager in Crew Technology at Delta Air Lines.

Humbled by this new calling, Bishop Jones’s heartfelt prayer is that all will draw closer to Jesus Christ and love others as Jesus so perfectly taught.

The Church of Jesus Christ has a lay ministry. Bishops and other local leaders are volunteers and serve in addition to family, employment and other community responsibilities. A bishop typically serves for five years. Members do not generally request specific positions. Instead, local leaders extend assignments after seeking guidance from the Lord through prayer. After Bishop Jones expressed his willingness to accept this new calling, his name was presented to the Flat Creek congregation for approval.

The Flat Creek congregation, which serves members in parts of Fayette and Coweta counties, holds worship services on Sundays at 11:30 a.m. at 101 S. Peachtree Pkwy. Visitors are always welcome.
