For the 21st consecutive year, volunteers have partnered to purchase, prepare, and deliver free sack lunches to students on free and reduced lunch.
PEACHTREE CITY (August 18, 2025) — More than 621 Fayette County students received 25,820 free sack lunches this summer, all donated, packed and delivered with love by local faith groups.
The Summer Lunch Program, now in its 21st year, serves students enrolled in the district’s free and reduced meals program.
Each weekday, during June & July, volunteers from 16 different faith groups gather to prepare, pack and deliver lunches each weekday.
It began with a question: How do students on free and reduced lunch during the school year manage once summer rolls around?
Volunteers sprang into action and the rest is history.
