A proposed commercial rezoning on Ellis Road near the Fayette Pavilion will be considered by the Fayette County Commission Thursday night.

The .42-acre site is currently zoned for single-family residential development and is vacant. Owner Victor Clincy of Clincy Enterprises wants to build an office, retail or educational use for the site, though he may sell the lot as a commercial parcel to a potential buyer.

The area is designated for commercial use on the county’s comprehensive plan.

The planning commission has recommended approval of the rezoning with the condition that a 40-foot right of way be dedicated to the county measuring from the centerline of Ellis Road.

The rezoning is one of several items on a fairly light agenda for the commission. Among other matters, the commission is expected to appoint Maj. Anthony Rhodes of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office to a vacant seat on the county’s board overseeing the Department of Family and Children Services.
