The annual Light Up the Night Toy Drive, sponsored by the Peachtree City Police Department and its CERT program, “is off to a great start this year,” according to a spokesperson.

Toys are still being collected at the Peachtree City Walmart Dec. 3, 4, 5, 9, 10 and 11 between 5:30 and 9 p.m.

“We welcome any help you can offer,” according to a department statement. “So come join your friends, spread some holiday cheer, and make the Holiday Season a bit brighter for a deserving child.”

The initial program was started in 1992 and in 2013 helped 87 children with toys and a holiday dinner. In 2014 that number grew to 123 children. These are all local families vetted through school and community partners. Monetary donations can be made through the police auxiliary program and if requested a tax exempt form can be offered as well.
