Ornament depicts historic downtown

Fayetteville Main Street has just released the 2015 Christmas ornament which pays tribute to elements of Downtown Fayetteville’s past. The hand-painted ornaments depict the north side of buildings on the square as they were seen circa 1900.

Unfortunately, none of these buildings exist today, but their memory has been preserved in this annual keepsake so that future generations can appreciate Fayetteville’s heritage. The image of the downtown was taken from an original painting by local artist Patsy Gullett, who used archives and historical photos to create the original artwork.

This ornament, along with previous years’ ornaments, is now available at the Main Street Welcome Center at the Historic Courthouse, City Hall, and The Holliday-Dorsey-Fife Museum.
