A presentation about the reconstruction of the historic 1881 Hancock County Courthouse in Sparta is on the agenda for the Jan. 13 Lunch and Learn meeting at the Georgia Archives in Morrow.

In 2014 the courthouse was severely damaged by fire. The story, however, did not end there. Carter Watkins Associates Architects, Inc. was selected for the restoration of the courthouse, known as “Her Majesty.” The architects were already familiar with the Hancock structure. In 1993, the firm had meticulously documented Hancock’s courthouse to aid in the award-winning restoration of its sister courthouse in Walton County.

The program requires no registration and is free and open to the public. Lunch and Learn programs begin at noon and last about an hour.
