Some perspective: We voted for a 16.7% tax increase with SPLOST

Although I’m not happy about the property tax increases we’re reading about, they seem completely in line. After all, we recently voted ourselves a comparable increase in our sales tax. That’s what the one penny SPLOST represented.

When you go from 6 percent sales tax to 7 percent sales tax, it’s a 16.7 percent increase.

Did we think in voting ourselves a sales tax increase we would insulate ourselves from other tax increases? Or did we just not think?
