The Friends of Brown’s Mill Battlefield Association held a barbecue to introduce folks who were not familiar with the group to its work and to thank those who have already pledged funds and manpower. The actual battle was fought on the same date, July 30, in 1864.

President Carolyn Turner along with Commissioner Bob Blackburn welcomed the several hundred who came to the Coweta County Fairgrounds. There were Musketeers, re-enactors, and several cannon camps to delight all ages.

Well-known author, Dr. David Evans, “Sherman’s Horseman,” gave a well-received speech on the comparison of the uniforms and horses of the Union soldiers and those of the Confederate soldiers. It was complete with actual artifacts.

A lesson in the preparation of the cannon and actual firing was given twice, providing many photo opportunities.
