An East Point man and a Fayette County woman were charged with numerous drug offenses after a July 31 traffic stop by Peachtree City police.

Chris Wooten, 51, of East Point, was charged with four counts of drug possession/sale/manufacture, one count of drug trafficking, habitual violator, drug-related objects, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, theft by receiving stolen property, less than an ounce of marijuana and use of a blue light on a vehicle, according to Fayette County Jail records.

Jamie A. Palmer, 45, of south Fayette County, was charged with four counts of drug possession/sale/manufacture, one count of drug trafficking, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, convicted felon in possession of a weapon, drug-related objects, theft by receiving stolen property and less than an ounce of marijuana, according to Fayette County Jail records.

Peachtree City Police Department spokesman Chris Hyatt said the two were the subject of a traffic stop at 3:50 a.m. at Ga. Highway 74 and Clover Reach.

The motorcycle was pulled over due to having an unauthorized blue light on the motorcycle, Hyatt noted.

During the traffic stop, a K-9 alerted on a backpack, which revealed marijuana, TCH wax, a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine, a stolen firearm, paraphernalia and a large amount of cash, Hyatt said.

Hyatt noted that Palmer tried to discard items during the traffic stop.

Both were initially taken for medical treatment after telling officers they had swallowed a quantity of meth, Hyatt explained.
