State playoffs runs continue

Here is a recap of Tuesday’s GHSA state tournament action in all sports.

GIRLS SOCCER: Starr’s Mill and McIntosh advanced to Friday’s AAAAA quarterfinals. The Lady Panthers beat Alexander 5-0 and play at Columbus. The Lady Chiefs downed Dunwoody 1-0 and travel to Greenbrier. Whitewater is in the AAAA quarterfinals after a 4-1 victory over Walnut Grove. The Lady Wildcats will face Cartersville on the road Friday. Our Lady of Mercy was eliminated from the Class A state tournament with a 5-0 loss to Stratford.

GIRLS TENNIS: Starr’s Mill will try for its second straight AAAAA state championship after a 3-1 win over Kell in the semifinal. The championship is Saturday at Clayton County International Park in Jonesboro. The Starr’s Mill boys will face Lakeside-Evans for the state title after Monday’s win over Cambridge.

BOYS LACROSSE: McIntosh and Starr’s Mill won their first-round matches and moved into Friday’s quarterfinals. The Chiefs topped St. Pius 13-6 and will play at Allatoona. The Panthers defeated Decatur 8-6 and will play at Cambridge.
