   This location was a grocery store before Books A Million moved in. I didn’t shop there because it was inconvenient at the time due to the location. What was that…14 or 15 years ago? Now the location is even worse due to traffic.

   If a Trader Joe’s moves in…I’m not making the special trip to shop there. I’ll stick with Publix.

      No big deal but that space was build-to-suit for BAM/ Joe Muggs when the Avenue opened. You may be thinking of Williams Sonoma several doors down which closed a couple of years ago.

      You are very correct that a TJs will make the already hellish parking there an utter nightmare. There may be some parking lot changes coming but they simply cannot accommodate what’s coming. And TJs does not permit online ordering and makes third-party shopping (Instacart) very difficult; one of their corporate missions is to force in-store shopping.

         Actually BUFFdriver is correct. The original tenant when The Avenues first opened was a small boutique grocery store called Harry’s in a Hurry. It was similar to Fresh Market and offered a lot of gourmet prepared foods such as fancy chicken salad, etc. It was part of a local Atlanta chain called Harry’s, which ultimately went out of business and the other Atlanta locations were taken over by Whole Foods. Or maybe the chain was actually bought by Whole Foods, I can’t remember the exact details. Harry’s in a Hurry at The Avenues closed when the chain went out of business (or was sold), then was replaced by Books-a-Million.
         I actually shopped at Harry’s in a Hurry a few times. It was good, but expensive, so not an every day kind of grocery store.

            Harry’s In a Hurry was started by one of the 2 brothers who opened the Dekalb Farmers Market. I remember the two selling vegetables from a small weekend stand in Decatur on North Decatur rd, my old neighborhood. Perseverance paid off for both. The brothers had a sibling squabble, which forced one to open Harry’s, in an attempt to be a competitor. Brotherly love won out, they rejoined and, you are correct, Harry’s sold out. Some locations(only local Atlanta) have been turned into Whole Foods, as they looked to expand national. The timing was perfect for all involved.
