  • Cemetery Spirit Walk

    Cemetery Spirit Walk

For the 12th year, Fayetteville’s Holliday-Dorsey-Fife Museum is proud to present its Cemetery Spirit Walk. This unique experience for visitors to meet the early citizens of Fayette County will take place on Friday, October 18, and Saturday, October 19, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Historic Fayette Cemetery on Stonewall Ave.

Tickets are on sale at the Holliday-Dorsey-Fife Museum from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Tickets will also be available on tour evenings at the Historic Cemetery from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Tour tickets are sold in half-hour segments (i.e. 7 to 7:30 pm) starting at 6:30 p.m.

Costumed spirit guides will lead small groups through the cemetery to meet 12 Fayette County citizens who will share their stories. The tour lasts about an hour. Guests can enjoy live music and light refreshments while they wait for their tour to begin or after its completion. After the event, ticket stubs double as free passes to the Museum until November 9 to see the special Mourning exhibit.

This year, as in the past, funds from the tour will be used to display, conserve or purchase Fayette County items to add to the Museum collection.

The Holliday Dorsey Fife Museum is located off the Fayetteville square at 140 West Lanier Avenue. Normal operating hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest opens at Southside Theatre Guild Thursday, October 3. Written by Dale Wasserman, the play is adapted form the novel by Ken Kesey and presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc., a Concord Theatricals Company.

When Randle Patrick McMurphy gets transferred for evaluation from a prison farm to a mental institution, he assumes it will be a less restrictive environment. But the martinet Nurse Ratched runs the psychiatric ward with an iron fist, keeping her patients cowed through abuse, medication, and sessions of electroconvulsive therapy. The battle of wills between the rebellious McMurphy and the inflexible Ratched soon affects all the ward’s patients.

Performances are scheduled October 3, 4, and 6 and October 10-13 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. (There is no show on October 5.)

    TICKETS

Adults: $20 each ($25 at the door)

    Children under 12: $12

All Thursday night adult tickets are discounted by $5. Discount will be applied at checkout.
